2024 Batang Pinoy National Championships
DepEd Memorandum No. 056, s. 2024, announces the conduct of the 2024 Batang Pinoy National Championships from November 23 to 28, 2024, in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. 2024 BATANG PINOY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

1. The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), will conduct the 2024 Batang Pinoy National Championships from November 23 to 28, 2024 at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
2. Batang Pinoy was created through Executive Order No. 44, s. 1998, the annual competition program for the youth to showcase their talents and hone their skills, fostering a culture of physical fitness, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among our youth.
3. For this year's edition, the competition will feature 27 sports, represented by 149 cities and 82 provinces from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
4. Acknowledging that the participation of the learner-athletes in PSC-sponsored activities such as the Batang Pinoycontributes to their holistic development, DepEd, through the regional and schools division offices (SDOs), shall extend its support to the successful conduct of the 2024 Batang Pinoy National Championships through (a) the use of, school classrooms as billeting venues for the athletes, coaches; and technical officials, and (b) approval of qualified teachers in specific sports to serve as coaches and members of the technical officiating team.
5. The guidelines on the participation of public elementary and secondary school learners as athletes, and the involvement of school officials and personnel, teachers, as well as coaches, and officiating officials are as follows:
a. Expenses of the learner-athletes and school coaches relative to their participation in the 2024 Batang PinoyNational Championships shall be shouldered by the local government units (LGUs) that they represent. There shall be no organized activities of raising funds by field officials, public school administrators, or teachers for purposes of the same, and the 2024 Batang Pinoy National Championships will be conducted with no additional cost on the part of DepEd
b. The PSC shall allocate funds for the 2024 Batang Pinoy National championships which shall cover various expenses, including but not limited to food, accommodations, honoraria, and transportation of all DepEd technical officials to and from the host city;
c. The LGUs shall coordinate with the sports coordinators or supervisor-in-charge regarding the identification, recruitment, and participation of the learner-athletes and the designation of their coaches. They should be guided by the performance standards set in their last district or division athletic meet on deciding the events in which their learner-athletes can compete, provided that all required documents for participation, including waiver/parents' consent are submitted;
d. Public school teachers and nonteaching DepEd personnel selected by the National Sports Associations (NSAs, as confirmed by the PSC and approved by DepEd through their respective schools division superintendents or heads of offices, and acting as officiating officials in the event shall be serving on official time;
e. Owing to the schedule of the Batang Pinoy that may affect the attendance of learner-athletes to their regular classes and other curricular and co-curricular activities requiring their participation, make-up classes shall be promptly arranged by the respective school heads and homeroom advisers to ensure that learner-athletes will catch up with missed lessons and other school-works; and
f. In strict observance of the Department's no disruption of classes policy and in compliance with DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 on Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith, public school premises shall not be used as sports competition venues, billeting areas, and other similar purposes unless otherwise approved by the concerned regional office through the SDO.
