Reconstitution of The Palarong Pambansa Board

 

DepEd Memorandum No. 055, s. 2024, announces the reconstitution of the Palarong Pambansa Board, in line with Republic Act (RA) No. 10588, also known as the Palarong Pambansa Act of 2013. Due to recent administrative changes in DepEd, new undersecretaries and assistant secretaries have been appointed to the board. Secretary Sonny M. Angara will serve as Chairperson, with Undersecretary Revsee A. Escobedo designated as Secretary General. The memorandum also confirms the continuing role of Ms. Marivic B. Tolitol as Officer-in-Charge of the Palarong Pambansa Secretariat.

RECONSTITUTION OF THE PALARONG PAMBANSA BOARD

Public and Private Elementary and Secondary School Heads

All Others Concerned

 

1. Republic Act (RA) No. 10588, otherwise known as the Palarong Pambansa Act of 2013, and its Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) provided for the following composition of the Palarong Pambansa Board:

 

a. Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) as Chairperson;

b. Four (4) undersecretaries of DepEd to be identified by the Secretary;

c. Three (3) assistant secretaries of DepEd to be identified by the Secretary;

d. Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG); and

e. Chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

 

2. In light of the change in the administration in DepEd and the recent appointments of new undersecretaries and assistant secretaries, the members of the Palarong Pambansa Board is hereby reconstituted.

 

3. To conform with the provisions of RA 10588 and its IRR,. the representation of DepEd to the Palarong Pambansa Board is changed as follows:

Undersecretary Revsee A. Escobedo

Undersecretary Wilfredo E. Cabral

Assistant Secretary Dexter A. Galban

Assistant Secretary Janir Ty Datukan

Assistant Secretary Georgina Hernandez-Yang

 

4. Considering that the Palarong Pambansa portfolio is under this Department's Operations Strand, Atty. Revsee A. Escobedo, Undersecretary for Operations, is hereby designated as the Secretary General of the Palarong Pambansa.

 

5. Ms. Marivic B. Tolitol, Supervising Education Program Specialist of the Bureau of Learner Support Services-School Sports Division (BLSS-SSD), shall continue to oversee the Palarong Pambansa Secretariat as its Officer-in-Charge (OIC) to ensure that the support services are provided to the Palarong Pambansa Board for the' implementation of its functions, and all activities leading to the conduct of the Palarong Pambansa as may be assigned by the Board through the Secretary General are performed effectively, as stipulated in Section 10, Rule II of the IRR of RA 10588.

 

6. Immediate dissemination of this Memorandum is desired.
