125th FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

1. Pursuant to Administrative Order No. 322, s. 1997 titled Authorizing Certain Government Agencies to Undertake Activities in Preparation for their Centennial Anniversary Celebrations in 1997, 1998, and 1999, the Department of Education (DepEd) announces its 125th Founding Anniversary with the theme, DepEd@125: Isang Pamilya para sa MATATAG na Kagawaran.
2. The theme expresses the Department's commitment to support the MATATAG: Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansaeducation agenda by working as one family in solidarity to achieve the common goal. Further, it relates to the DepEd commitment to provide Filipino learners with quality basic education that is accessible, inclusive, and liberating.
3. In view of the foregoing, DepEd will have its weeklong celebration from June 19 to 23, 2023, for its 125th Founding Anniversary. To promote public awareness of this momentous event, DepEd Central Office (CO) enjoins all DepEd officials, personnel, and learners at the regional, schools division offices, and schools to:
a. display /hang the Department's 125th Founding Anniversary official streamer in offices and schools;
b. participate the online celebration by joining the following DepEd national activities which will be live-streamed via DepEd Philippines' Official Facebook page:
i. June 19 - Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony and Thanksgiving Mass
ii. June 21 - Nationwide DepEd Chorale Competition
iii. June 23 National Celebration of DepEd Anniversary
c. organize activities at the CO, RO, SDO, and schools based on the theme; and
d. use the official anniversary frame for profile photos on Facebook
4. A detailed activity matrix is provided in the enclosure.
5. For the Department Chorale Competition, a separate memorandum on the mechanics and guidelines will be released.
