NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SPORTS ANNUAL SEARCH FOR COMPETENT, EXCEPTIONAL, NOTABLE, AND TALENTED STUDENT-ATHLETE SCHOLARS

1. | Pursuant to Republic Act No. 11470, titled An Act Creating and Establishing the National Academy of Sports and Providing Funds therefor, the National academy of Sports (NAS) System is mandated to implement a quality and enhanced secondary education program, integrated with a special curriculum on sports. Correspondingly, Section 12 of the same Act gives the power to screen and select the students for admission to the Executive Committee of the NAS System.

2. | In view of the foregoing, the Department of Education (DepEd) with the NAS, announces the opening of the NAS Annual Search for Competent, Exceptional, Notable, and Talented Student-Athlete Scholars (NASCENT SAS) from June 18, 2021 to July 16, 2021. It serves as the NAS’s admission program to identify and offer scholarships to academically competent and athletically talented natural-born Filipino youth from all sectors of the society, including indigenous people, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.

3. | The NASCENT SAS aims to provide the following to successful applicants:
a. Free tuition; b. Free board and lodging at the NAS Dormitory in NAS Campus, New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac; c. Provision of quality secondary education; d. Access to specialized sports training in world-class facilities*; e. A chance to represent the country and NAS in international competitions and exchange programs; f. Monthly stipend; and g. Scholarship grant for six years, subject to the student-athlete’s sports and academic performance.
*Items B, C and D are subject to the guidelines to be released on the face-to-face classes and safe return to schools, as well as issuance of the Infrastructure Occupancy Permit to NAS*

4. | The regional offices are requested to
a. Disseminate, communicate, and articulate information about the Academy and the NASCENT SAS Program to applicants and parents in their respective areas of jurisdiction; b. Scout for prospective student-athlete scholars; and c. Assist in the application process of interested aplicants.

5. | The schedule of activities is as follows:
