COMMEMORATION OF THE 38th PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION ANNIVERSARY

Public and Private Elementary and Secondary School Heads

All Others Concerned

 

1. In compliance with Presidential Proclamation No. 1224, s. 2007 titled Declaring February 22 to 25 of Every Year as “EDSA People Power Commemoration Week, the Department of Education (DepEd) joins the Human Rights Violations Victims' Memorial Commission and other government agencies in celebrating the commemoration of the 38th People Power Revolution Anniversary. The theme for this year's celebration is EDSA 2024: Pagkakaisa at Paninindigan laban sa mga Bagong Hamon sa Bayan (Unity and Conviction Against the New Challenges to the Nation).

 

2. The commemoration aims to highlight people's consciousness and promote greater awareness of the principles and values that the EDSA People Power Revolution stands for.

 

3. In this regard, subject to compliance with DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 titled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith, all regional and schools division offices and schools are encouraged to observe said commemoration and undertake related activities such as the following:

 

a. Hoisting streamers depicting this year's theme and logo;

b. Integrating the celebration in the different subject areas;

c. Discussing current issues involving children relative to protecting the country's democracy and freedom in appropriate subject areas; and

d. Organizing child-friendly activities such as art contest, poster-and­ slogan-making, children's fair, and/ or photo exhibit of child­ friendly materials regarding love of country and heroes of subsequent generations.

 

4. Expenses incurred relative to the conduct of activities for the said celebration shall be charged to local funds, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations
