PARTICIPATION IN THE 34th NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH

1. Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month (NSM), signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino on September 22, 1990, and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Board Resolution No. l 1, s. 2021, the PSA issued Memorandum Circular No. 2023-12 on the Celebration of the 34th National Statistics Month in October 2023. In compliance therewith, the Department of Education (DepEd) will join all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the national government, local government units, government-owned or controlled corporations, the private sector, and the public in celebrating the 34th NSM.
2. The celebration aims to
a. promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and values of statistics to the different sectors of society; and
b. elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
3. The theme of the 34th NSM this year is Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines. The theme can be translated into other major Philippine languages and dialects.
4. The central, regional and schools division offices are directed to display the 34th NSM streamers/tarpaulin (copy enclosed) in their building facade throughout the month of October 2023 following the prescribed streamer format. Likewise, the posting in respective websites and social media accounts of the 34th NSM Calendar, posters, and other promotional materials is expected. The said materials can be accessed and downloaded at https://psa.gov.ph/nsm/announcements/34th. Expenses for the printing of the streamer /tarpaulin shall be charged to their respective local funds subject to usual accounting and auditing rules and
regulations.
