Conduct of the 2023 Palarong Pambansa Competitions

CONDUCT OF THE 2024 PALARONG PAMBANSA COMPETITIONS

1. Pursuant to Sections 6, 8, 9, and 10 of Rule II of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) 10588 otherwise known as the Palarong Pambansa Act of 2013, the Department of Education (DepEd), through the Palarong Pambansa Board and its Secretariat, shall conduct the 2024 Palarong Pambansa to be held from July 6 to 17, 2024 in Cebu City.
2. The annual scholastic multi-sport competition shall be hosted by the local government unit (LGU) of Cebu City together with DepEd-Region VII and the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Cebu City. The event shall be participated by the 17 DepEd regional athletic associations and delegates from the National Academy of Sports (NAS). Filipino athletes enrolled in recognized schools overseas shall also be allowed to participate under the banner of Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs).
3. The 2024 Palarong Pambansa competition format shall no longer feature the Pre-National Qualifying Meet (PNQM) and shall be reverted to the previous pre-COVID-19 Pandemic set-up (from the school competitions, division meet, regional meet, to the Palarong Pambansa).

5. This year's Palarong Pambansa shall continue to adopt the Winner-Take-All policy for all team sports (Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Football, Futsal, Sepak Takraw and Volleyball) and the Qualifying Standards for measurable sports such as Athletics, Swimming, and Archery.
6. The conduct of all competitions leading to, such as the lower meets (division and regional), and including the Palarong Pambansa shall be guided by the Guidelines on the Eligibility of Athletes and Technical Rules, Regulations, and Guidelines of the Different Sports to be played in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa.
7. The no disruption of classes policy, as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 titled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith, shall be strictly observed during the conduct of the 2024 Palarong Pambansa Competitions.
8. Fund support to cover all Palarong Parnbansa-related expenses shall be downloaded to the regional and schools division offices, and DepEd-Region VII and Schools Division of Cebu City for hosting the event, charged to the 2024 Physical Fitness and School Sports Funds (Continuing and Current) subject to the usual government accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
