RECONSTIUTING OF THE MANAGEMENT SUPPORT COMMITTEE FOR BAGUIO TEACHERS CAMP

(Amendment to DepEd Memorandum No. 045, s. 2018)

1. The Baguio Teachers Camp (BTC) was created by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 290 dated July 18, 1988, titled Declaring Certain Parcels of Land of the Public Domain Situation in the City of Baguio, Island of Luzon as Teacher's Camp Reservation under the administration of the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports.

 

2. The BTC was declared as a heritage site in 2005 and 2008 by the Baguio City Government and the National Government through the National Heritage Commission. It is known to be a teachers' training center and venue for events and seminars of the Department of Education (DepEd), Local Government Units, and other public and private organizations. It also serves as a vacation site for teachers and their families, including other government employees, with discounted rates.

 

3. From 2014 to 2022, the BTC had an average annual gross income of P40M from the rentals for the use of dormitories, cottages, and other facilities, and with an average annual occupancy of 300,000 individuals. As such, it is imperative to fully sustain the BTC as a viable source of income to finance its operation.

 

4. Moving towards development, the internal and external operational issues, problems, and concerns affecting its smooth operations, require immediate attention and support from the DepEd Central Office management.

 

5. In view of this, DepEd reconstitutes the Management Support Committee (MSC) for the BTC with the following composition:

 

Chairperson    :           Undersecretary for Administration

Co-Chairperson          :           Undersecretary for Finance

Members         :           Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching

Assistant Secretary for Operations

Assistant Secretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs

Regional Director, Cordillera Administrative Region

Chief Accountant, DepEd Central Office

Chief Administrative Officer, Asset Management Division

BTC Camp Superintendent

 

Secretariat       :           Office of the Undersecretary for Administration

Office of the Undersecretary for Finance

BTC Chief of Finance

BTC Chief Administrative Officer

 

6. The MSC shall provide necessary advisory and policy-making assistance to the BTC and shall perform the following functions.

 

7. Immediate dissemination of this Memorandum is desired.
